About ANASUA MAJUMDER

...as an exponent of the Kathak style under the guidance and training from pandit Vijay Shamkar ji, since the last 10 years,She is pursuing her training in"kalashram" under the Guidance of Padma Bhibusan Pandit Birju maharaj and Saswati sen.

Not only,she is highly motivated,Versatile and creative,she is alsovery compassionate about her experimental work .dance is the Manifestationthrough which she express herself.

Now her mossion is to expend kathak dance style of Lucknow gharana influenced by various mythological narratives,temple dance,the bhakti Movement,Persain dance and Mughal courts.

She conducts workshops to dancers nationally and internationally.Regardless of the experience she desires to explain the dance as an artform and culture

ACHIEVEMENTS


1) Received graded dancer certificate from " Doordarshan " Kolkata.
2) Received National Scholarship awarded by Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India in 2009-10.
3) Stood 1st in State National ‘Yubo Utsab' at Kolkata in 2009.
4) Stood 2nd in Dover Lane Talent Search Contest 2009.
5) stood 3rd in National ‘Yubo Utsab' at Bhubaneswar in 2010.
6) Stood 3rd in W. B. State Music Academy in 2008.
7) Stood 2nd in Inter Divisional Cultural Competition organised by South Eastern Railway in 2007.
8) Stood 1st in All Bengal Cultural Competition in 2004.

EXPERIENCE AND PERFORMING ARTS EDUCATION

1) Learning Kathak dance from smt. Swagara Mukherjee , Guru Pt. Vijai Shankar since last 10 years.
2) pursuing her training in" Kalahram " under the guidance of Padma Vibhushan pandit Birju Maharaj ji and Saswati Sen.
3) Attended workshop on Kathak by Pt. Birju Maharaj
4) Attended workshop on Kathak by Smt. Saswati Sen and Rajendra Gangani.

6) Learnt Western Contemporary Dance technique from Ronnie shambik ghose.

1) 1st International Youth Festival held at Ajmer in 2009.
2) Indian Classical Dance Group Competition - 1st Prize.
3) International Dance Group - 1st Prize.
4) Folk Dance Group - 3rd Prize.

PERFORMANCE


  • December 2021 one of the dancers with chhanda dance group performed in red fort Delhi-“Dances of India” from all states of India for continuing for 6 days commencing on ( 23rd to 28th December )
  • November 2021 – EXPO 2020-one of the main dancers of Lok Chhanda Cultural Unit Performed in Indian pavilion in Dubai expo on November 5 th collaborating with dancers from Dubai.
  • October 2021 - Acted as one of the Co- Choreographers Working with 300 young people to create a dance for Madhya Pradesh Part of 75 th Maha Utsav Performed on 1 st November.
  • February 2020 - Glasgow participated in launch of South Asian Multi – Arts Agency (SAMMA) and consisted of small commission piece of Kathak and Taiko Japanese Drums .
  • April 2019 conducted workshops and give performance in Glasgow, China and Spain .
  • April 2018 - Invited by Glasgow Life/Glasgow Arts for 5 months dance residency. Working with Glasgow Schools and Desi Bravehearts Dance Group. Residency included a dance commission of Kathak, Flamenco and Chinese “Treenava” working with International Dance Artist Carmen Castro (Barcelona) and Ming Chu Au (Annie) (China) and 15 young dancers from Glasgow.
  • August 2018 - performed solo and choreographed "Treenava" for Festival 2018 also Performed with Lok Chhanda Cultural Unit in Merchant City Festival as part of European Athletics Championship held in Glasgow jointly with Berlin. (8th & 9th August)
  • August 2018 - Performance as part of Lok Chhanda Cultural Unit in Edinburgh Fringe Festival (13th to 25th August)
  • In the year 2017 was invited to China (Xiamen) as a Performer, Teacher, Choreographer, Judge in Jingya International Dance Festival, on the biggest international dance festival in China.
  • Was invited to UK Glasgowlife in the year 2016 as a short time Dance Residence Teacher for the Glasgow Mela as a Dance Choreographer and Performer.
  • Short Dance Residency working with community groups and schools with Glasgow Life/Glasgow Mela, Scotland (2016).
  • 2016 Recently Performed in Kolkata and gave tribute to the Legendry Sitara Devi on her Death Anniversary.
  • Recently individual international assignments for "International Festivals" like 'Ningbo China WBF'. 'IDW' under SSBDC Spain, performed solo recital, trained students from across the Globe and also a part of the prestigious judging panel adjudicating a competition held at China (Ningbo), Spain 2013-14-15.
  • Germany 'Day's of India' in honor of the prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, tour with Kalashram (2013)
